Ellie, she has such a vibrant personality, gorgeous smile, and captivating eyes. I hope she doesn’t cause to much trouble for her parents. ;)

She will graduate in 2011 with a world of promise in front of her and an adventuresome spirit that will lead her abroad. Since her father has ties in China she has a great interest in traveling there and I hope I can convince her I should tag along. ;) I love the art and history of China and would love to some day find myself walking their streets and visiting their historical archaeology sites and finds.

Ellie- I expect updates and lots of photos! May your year go swiftly and your classes make your subjects interesting.

Ellie picked some great locations and you can really see how wonderful even simple places can be.   I also have to give Ellie props for trusting me that a morning shoot would be perfect- even though we would have to start at 8.  Oh the pain of waking up early on lazy summer days. ;) We started at a little park that overlooks the bluffs along the river in St. Paul at the corner of Ramsey and Summit.  If you are familiar, it is right next the the wonderful St. Paul University Club.  This small, unassuming park had a wealth of little details and spots that were great backdrops for Ellie’s style and personality. The first photo of this post was taken there as well as the next few.

After this park we headed to the St. Paul Cathedral for a couple photos.  The sun was starting to heat up so we just snuck in a few photos before heading to our next location (and you will see why we did in a second!)

It was pretty warm my 9:30 that Monday morning, so guess where we went next?  Como Lake for a quick cool down… but not in the lake shhhh ;)

Our feet were cooled off- the cuffs of my jeans were damp and my camera was still water free so we moved up onto the grass for some closing moments.

Everyone- meet Kathryn.  She’s an amazing senior who just graduated a few short weeks ago from White Bear.  I loved her rich red hair and beautiful freckles.  She was a member of her high school’s golf team and had the cutest club cover ever- a big fuzzy bear! I loved that it was a mimic of their mascot!

I know with her upbeat personality and drive will take her far.  Best of luck for the future!

Well as you might guess I am a bit behind on posting to my blog- expect some backlogged blogging for the next couple weeks until I catch up!

People always amaze me with their strength of character and their vibrancy of life.  Photography gives me so many chances to meet these amazing individuals and get a glimpse into who they are and their lives.  I love photographing seniors- their lives are changing so much over the next year with plans solidifying for after high school.  For myself it was a year where my friends and I got the pangs of “senioritist” but loved most days of it even as we complained.  It isn’t so much the classes I had-  but it was the days with my friends, teachers, and family.  I hope all the seniors I photograph have such an excellent final year- I wish them to have the best of times with friends and a successful school year.

Brittany is a wonderful young lady from the Twin Ciites who is going to graduate in 2010.  She has an amazing spirit with a bright and vibrant personality that adversary can’t hold back.  She truly awes me and I will look forward to keeping in contact as she goes through the school year.  I am sure she will succeed at whatever she sets her sights on.

She was a blast to photograph and, just so you know, she has the most amazing shoes ever! :)

We had a great time out at Como Lake in St. Paul to finish up Marta’s Senior portraits! The weather was perfect and her siblings came along for moral support (or so we are going to say ;)

I also got to met the new addition to their family – Luna – a totally precious 2 month old Shih Tzu. So adorable!

I had an excellent time taking Billy’s senior photos near the end of April! He is from South St. Paul High School and will be graduating in 2010. His mom Kelly and her friend Kathy came along to enjoy the fun of the photo shoot in studio. They made an excellent fan group and I am sure they are both his biggest fans. :) I hope you all enjoy these photos as much as we did in taking them! Billy was all smiles and laughter- I could never see this young man with a frown on his face because I really don’t think those muscles exist for him.

It was great meeting you Billy and I look forward to your outdoor session!

I had an excellent session with one Ms. Marta from AV High School.  She was a real treat to photograph and would have to try if she wanted to take a bad photo- and she didn’t : ) She is a most charming individual with great music taste- remind me to get her playlist sometime?  She loves the movie and series Twilight and who can blame her?  The books are great and you can’t complain about who they cast for the roles haha.  Ms. Marta is also a member of her schools choir and enjoys a class in mythology… I wish they had that in my high school- closest we had was world cultures.  Though I think that isn’t really close at all.

Ms. M is one of my senior representatives for the class of 2010 so this is the first installment of a two part series- first is the studio session and the second will come towards the end of spring when we both won’t freeze taking photos for her outdoor session.  Look forward to seeing more of this wonderful young lady.
